Moto G4 Plus vs Oppo F1s – Detailed Comparison

The mid-range smartphone category witnesses the fiercest competition where every other brand is trying hard to be a winner. Be it an Indian smartphone maker, South Korean, Taiwanese or a myriad of Chinese ones, everyone is giving their best shot to lure consumers by offering feature loaded premium looking Android handsets.

Motorola Moto G4 Plus is one such smartphone in sub Rs 15,000 price-bracket that has managed to impress with its overall performance and is giving a tough time to other widely popular smartphone brands such as Xiaomi, LeEco, Huawei and others. The recent one to take a fight with the handset is a selfie-focused smartphone from another Chinese brand, which has topped the charts in Chinese market in terms of market reach. We are talking about Oppo and their latest smartphone– F1s launched at a slightly higher price tag of Rs 17,990, packing in an exciting 16MP front facing camera.

No doubt, the smartphone has an edge over Moto G4 Plus, thanks to the massive sensor on the front; however that’s not the only thing required to be a good smartphone. A handset needs to deliver on other important aspects such as display, battery, durability, etc. to be a stalwart of its category, which in this case is the mid-ranged market segment. That said, here is our comparison of both the above mentioned smartphones to make you choose the right one for yourself.

Moto G4 Plus vs Oppo F1s – Detailed Comparison

Design:

Moto G4 Plus is made up of polycarbonate and looks trendy, durable and premium but Oppo F1s takes the cake because of its all metal unibody design. Buy the Oppo F1s if you are in the market for a smartphone with premium metal and glass construction.

Display

The next important thing is definitely the display of the smartphone and Moto G4 Plus is the clear winner here. The smartphone with its 5.5-inch Full HD display beats the sub-par resolution of 720p (1280x720p) of the Oppo F1s.

We don’t understand why Oppo is still sticking with the aged 720p screen when in today’s time; you can easily get the full HD display even in sub Rs 10,000 price-segment. The 1080p screen on Moto G4 Plus packs in more pixels to offer better multimedia viewing experience. It’s a better screen for watching videos, playing games and browse the web.

Camera

Imaging is the feature where Oppo F1s takes the lead over Moto G4 Plus. The smartphone has a 13MP f/2.2 camera on the back, while the front is equipped with the 16MP selfie camera packing in an f/2.0 sensor. The selfie camera comes with a number of features such as Beautify 4.0, Selfie panorama, etc. to enhance your selfie shots. If you are a selfie freak, who is always taking selfies then Oppo F1s is the smartphone you should buy. Otherwise, Moto G4 Plus with its 16MP f/2.0 rear camera and a basic 5MP front camera is good enough for the regular audience.

Performance

Coming onto the performance part, Moto G4 Plus has impressed us with its octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, which has eight Cortex-A53 cores, one half running at 1.5GHz and other half at 1.2GHz clock speeds. The smartphone works brilliantly in everyday usage. You can also play games, edit images and watch full HD videos with no issues.

On the other hand, the Oppo F1s also feature an octa-core SoC- MediaTek’s MT6750 processor running Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5 GHz each. The initial testing shows no performance issues but we are yet to test its full potential.

Both handsets pack in 32GB of internal storage and have 3GB RAM under the hood. You can also buy a 16GB+2GB variant of Moto G4 Plus.

Battery

Oppo F1s and Moto G4 Plus are head to head when it comes to battery power. However, Oppo F1s wins by a small margin as it packs in a slightly larger 3,075mAh battery as compared to the 3,000mAh unit of the Moto G4 Plus. But users won’t see much difference in everyday usage. But then we cannot ignore the fact that the software optimization also plays a vital role in determining the winner between the two and the stock Android that fuels the Moto G4 Plus can make it last longer.

Software and other features

The Oppo F1s runs Android 5.1 Lollipop whereas Moto G4 Plus comes running the Android’s latest flavour- 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It’s a bit let-down that Oppo is still shipping the handsets with a two-year old operating system.

Both have the fingerprint sensor to lock/unlock the handset.

Oppo F1s’s display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4, while the Moto G4 Plus comes with the slightly older Gorilla Glass 3.

Pricing and availability

And last but not the least- how much they cost and where can you get them. The Moto G4 Plus sells exclusively on Flipkart in India. The 16GB storage + 2GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 13,499 while the 32GB+3GB model will set you back by Rs 14,999. The smartphone is not available in offline market.

The Oppo F1s will be available starting August 11 and will be available for Rs 17,990 via Amazon India and you can also get it on retail stores across the country.
